Q
and Not U, one of Dischord's current bands, is probably
one of the most innovative and exciting acts in music
today. Here is something truly original and fresh, intense
and invigorating. Q could be considered a punk band,
but their sound is definitely not confined to any style.
They bring punk intensity, but there are also melodic
vocals, danceable rhythms, jittery guitar parts... it
just never gets boring.
No
Kill No Beep Beep happens to be the band's debut
album. With two interacting guitars, incredibly low,
grooving bass, and superb drumming, it is quite an impressive
album indeed. Most of the songs are highly accessible
and extremely addicting, like my personal favorite,
"Hooray for Humans." The entire album is energetic
and rocking, except a somewhat soothing mid-album break,
"Kiss Distinctly American," which is good
in its own right. With all the songs being consistantly
good, this record is one of the best indie recordings
I've heard in a long time. Give it a chance and you'll
probably be hooked.
