What
can you say about a band that has been around for so
long and has put out so much music. Iron Maiden has
been around since the early 80's and has released
many albums. Overall every Iron Maiden album I have
listened to has been excellent but one of these albums
stands out to me 1981's Killers. Overall the album
is quite extraordinary the solos on it are amazing the
vocals are wonderful and the picture on the booklet
is awesome. The picture being Eddie holding a bloody
axe while a pair of hands clinging to his shirt desperately
for life. Iron Maiden has come a long way since their
first album but it just keeps getting better and better
and this album really shows it.
The
album starts of with a guitar solo, which I won't
spend too much time on but I recommend listening to
it. It gives you a great idea of what is to come in
the rest of the album and is a great intro piece to
the album. The first song on the album goes by the name
Wrathchild. It is a perfect introduction to the band
if it's your first time with them. It has everything
an awesome guitar solo plus a great all around sound.
It reminds me of Black Sabbath in a lot of ways because
of the way the guitar is played and because of the lyrics
in the song.
The
pride and joy of this album is the title song Killers.
The guitar work will blow your mind and the lyrics are
delightfully morbid such as "his eyes burn a hole
in your back" and "my innocent victims are
slaughtered with wrath and despise". It truly is
in everyway a perfect example of how metal is supposed
to be played.
Iron
Maiden may have been an 80's band but fortunately
for us they decided to play real music like Sabbath
instead of turning into glam rock.
Killers is overall a very good album. The only problems
I have with it are that it is too short and there aren't
enough songs about death. The Vocals are no problem
if you have trouble with that and the guitar work is
wonderful it is an awesome album.
