One
of the first hardcore bands to come out of DC, Government
Issue was also one of the longest lasting, playing shows
for over 8 years. Most of their contemporaries fell
by the wayside as the years passed, but the GIs endured.
Members came and went, but the band was slowly evolving
into a very tight and powerful musical force. The 51
songs on this compilation are a huge departure from
their early hardcore sound; still based heavily in punk,
but with hints of metal, slower tempos, and lots of
pop hooks. Mostly old EPs, live tracks, and rare tracks,
this 2 CD set is an excellent purchase for 80's punk
fans.
